Let It Go is episode four of the Appare-Ranman! anime series.
Plot[]
Kosame is shown strugglingly working as a waiter in a restaurant called Bob's. During his shift, he overhears a couple of men talk about how expensive owning a car is. This gives Kosame the idea that if he sells the car that Appare won from Al that should cover the costs for a ticket back to Japan. Elated, Kosame leaves his job thinking that since he's half the owner of the car then, he can use his side of the money to buy a ticket back to Japan. At the warehouse, Kosame was going to tell Appare that he wants to sell the car, only to find out that the young man disassembled it, much to his chagrin. Flabberghasted, Kosame leaves just as Hototo enters the warehouse with freshly caught fish. With 3 months left to the race, Appare has an idea to use the parts from Al's old car to use on his.
Meanwhile, Jing gets into an argument with her boss about being tested to be allowed to drive a race car. The boss, however, refuses to allow her to race not only because she's a woman. This prompts a racer by the name of David to step in and proclaim she should be allowed to race. He then takes off his top allowing to use it, but proclaims that she better clean it after she uses it. The comments from David caused a scene between him and Jing and nearly gets Jing fired. However, Jing challenges David to a race and the boss finally gives in and allows it. The boss sets the race for Wednesday and gives her Car 0, which is in desperate need of repairs. Furthermore, the boss clearly states that once the race is over, pack her things, and leave, to which, Jing understands.
By dusk, Kosame and Hototo sit by the pier doing some fishing. Hototo manages to catch more fish than Kosame, due to him being smarter than the fish, which Kosame believes is a subtle insult toward his intelligence. Just then with a beaten-up car in tow, Jing arrives by the warehouse and requests for Appare's help. Kosame then heads to the warehouse and beckons for Appare, who wishes to not be disturbed unless it's about food. Stepping in, Jing calls out to Appare, which catches his attention, and she says that she has a favor to ask. While Appare exams the car, Jing explains its condition and her situation surrounding the car to him. Agreeing to fix the car, Appare is admonished to not add any accelerators to it, but only make it capable of racing against her opponent.
Adhering to Jing's conditions, the group then visit Al's warehouse and catch him riding on Appare's two-wheeled invention. They have Al's crew perform maintenance on the number 0 Car. Al notes that the group is brazen for having his crew fix Jing's care due to the time and money constraints she's facing. However, Al allows it as he can gather data on competitor's mechanical data. Happy to hear that Al agreed to help, Jing offers to stay and help too, but Al also advises to stay alert about the upcoming race. He details that the racing world is a sick and dirty place, but Jing is confident that she'll fit right in. Once that is all settled with Appare, Kosame, and Hototo take their leave.
On the day of the race, the boss notes that the race will be in 10 laps. When bets are taken, Kosame with Hototo bets all of his money on Jing's car, and Al soon arrives along with Sophia to spectate the race. Without further delay, the two racers get ready and a flashback plays with Jing asking Appare advice on how to beat someone with a better engine. On the other hand, Appare is test-driving using his imagination. Intrigued by this, Jing joins Appare who eventually gives her a piece the advice that if you can't win against their engine, win with something else. Back in the present, the race begins and Jing takes the lead, but after the first lap, David takes the lead. On the eighth lap, it's noted by the boss that Jing is letting David take the lead. What's more, is that although her engine is inferior her care excels in the other areas. Al also notes these things too noting its fuel efficiency uses less weight. Finally, on the final lap of the race, Jing takes the lead and manages to maintain her lead until David slams her off the tracks toward the finish line.
Immediately after the race, Jing confronts the flustered David about what he did on the tracks, but before she could punch him, the boss does it instead. He lividly proclaims he'd fire him if caused a crash. Although Jing wanted to prove to the boss of her racing capabilities, she did on how she handled the car after David slammed into her. So as consolation for David's interference, the boss gives Jing the 0 Car and has his crew modify and perform the tuning on it.
Elsewhere, during a meeting with an organizer of the TAWR Seth. Dylan learns from a newspaper that an acquaintance of his TJ has been hired by the Iron Motor Company to enter the race. Furthermore, another person who is in the same group as him and that Gil the Butcher has entered the race too. Although the two aforementioned men are outlaws with bounties on their heads, they're being pardoned due to the race.
Sometime later, Al is interviewed by news reporters and he openly declares war on the other racers. All of the other racers are interviewed as well. And much to Kosame's dismay, he doesn't get an interview, but just a photograph to appear in the paper. Upset by this, Kosame proclaims that he and Appare will win the race and that they better get front-page coverage because of it.
